Why cannot you access Safe Mode with F8?

In previous versions of Windows, such as Windows 7, at the beginning of the startup, you can press the F8 key to access the Advanced Boot Options menu, where you can enable Safe Mode. But with Windows 10, the F8 key no longer works. It does not matter how many times you’ve tried it.You should have wondered why this is happening to you. Is it deleted from Windows 10?

In fact, the F8 key is still available to access the Advanced Boot Options menu in Windows 10. But since Windows 8 (F8 does not even work in Windows 8), Microsoft has disabled this feature to increase boot time. by default, that is, Windows 10 starts too fast to allow time for something to stop. If you want to use the F8 key to access the protected mode, you must enable the function manually.

How can you run F8 again?

The F8 boot menu function is disabled in Windows 10 by default. The good news is that you can make it work again with the Change in  “Boot Configuration Data” (BCD) command. BCD Edit is a tool designed to control the startup of the operating system. You can use it to easily enable the F8 boot menu. Follow these steps:

1) On the keyboard, press the Windows + R keys simultaneously to execute the Run command.

2) Type cmd and then press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open an administrator command prompt. (You do not just press Enter or click OK as this will not open the command prompt in administrator mode).

3) Copy the following command and paste it at the command prompt. Then, on the keyboard, press the Enter key.

bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy

4) Restart your PC. Before the Windows logo appears, press F8 to access the Boot Options menu (see the following screen). Then select the safe mode.

Note: You can run F8 again only when you can log in to Windows. If you can not start Windows normally, you need to use another effective module.
